1. What Are ReLoved Credits?
ReLoved Credits are a non-cash store credit system offered by Northern ReLoved as part of our community rewards program.
ReLoved Credits:
- have no cash value
- are not redeemable for cash
- may only be used toward purchases on the Northern ReLoved website
- are not a gift card or currency
Credits are meant to keep thrifting affordable and reward participation in the Northern ReLoved system.
2. How ReLoved Credits Are Earned
ReLoved Credits may be issued when items are submitted through our pickup or drop-off process.
Important notes:
- Submitting items does not guarantee credits.
- Credits are issued at Northern ReLoved’s sole discretion.
- Credit amounts are based on resale suitability, condition, and current demand.
- Assessment is guided by our published Item Guidelines (available on our website).
- Credits are issued only after items are received and inspected.
3. Item Ownership & Acceptance
Once items are physically received by Northern ReLoved and accepted into our system:
- ownership transfers to Northern ReLoved
- items become Northern ReLoved property upon acceptance for the program
- items may be resold, donated, or responsibly recycled at our discretion
What “accepted” means: pickup or drop-off is a transfer of possession for review. “Accepted” means we have completed inspection and decided the items are suitable for resale or program use.
Items cannot be returned once submitted.
If items are deemed unsuitable upon inspection, no credits will be issued and the items will be handled according to this policy.
4. No Negotiation of Credits
ReLoved Credits:
- are final once issued
- cannot be negotiated, adjusted, or appealed
- cannot be transferred between accounts (except through approved donation features)
Northern ReLoved may correct obvious errors (for example, duplicate credits or technical mistakes).
5. Donations vs. Credits
Submitting items in exchange for ReLoved Credits is not a charitable donation.
- No tax receipts are issued for credited items.
- Items voluntarily submitted without requesting credits are treated as donations to Northern ReLoved.
- Credits donated to another person or to the Community Pot do not create a charitable deduction.
6. Credit Expiry & Account Status
ReLoved Credits do not expire.
Northern ReLoved may temporarily restrict or deactivate an account due to suspected fraud, misuse of the credits system, or violation of our Terms & Conditions. In such cases, credits are not forfeited and may be reinstated following review.
If the ReLoved Credits program is discontinued, Northern ReLoved will provide no less than six (6) months’ advance notice, and outstanding credits will remain redeemable during that notice period, in accordance with Ontario law.
7. Using ReLoved Credits
ReLoved Credits may be used:
- toward eligible purchases on the Northern ReLoved website
- in combination with other credits or promotions (where permitted)
Credits:
- cannot be exchanged for cash
- cannot be used to purchase gift cards or cash equivalents
- cannot be resold or bartered
8. Community Pot & Credit Gifting
Users may choose to donate credits to:
- another registered user, or
- the Northern ReLoved Community Pot
Credits in the Community Pot may be allocated to individuals or families at Northern ReLoved’s discretion. All Community Pot distributions are final.
9. Abuse or Misuse
Northern ReLoved may investigate and take action in cases of misuse, including but not limited to:
- submitting unsafe or prohibited items
- attempting to manipulate credit issuance
- providing false information
- attempting to sell or trade credits
“Misuse may result in account restriction or removal and the forfeiture of any credits obtained through such misuse.“
10. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users via email or a website notice. Continued use of ReLoved Credits after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
